I've been MIA for awhile but I needed to take a break from doing work, so I figured that I would continue this series. On our first day, after lunch at Cheeseboard, picnic at Berkeley, and snack at Ici, we visited Chez Panisse Cafe for dinner. After all of that food, we were already bursting inside, but we already had reservations so we couldn't skip dinner. Luckily, the cafe is the a la carte version of the Michelin-rated Chez Panisse downstairs, so we just ordered light courses.
The menu
Each table gets a pretty lamp
The water comes in a graduated cylinder, how fancy. The bread was mediocre.
This is expensive grape juice, with a long name and year listed on the menu. It's quite delicious, and we felt very mature drinking this, oh yes.
Since I wasn't too hungry, I got the beef carpaccio. It was light and just the perfect amount of food.
David's wild Alaskan salmon. It was well cooked.
We went hiking up Big C after dinner to try and work off some of the calories, but it probably didn't make much of a difference relative to the sheer amount that we ate that day.
