So I have a theory that everyone likes doing childhood things like trick-or-treating, Easter egg hunting, gingerbread house building. We all love it as kids, but grow into those teenage years of I'm-too-cool-for-school and unfortunately miss out on years of fun activities. Post-college, we indulge in our inner child until it becomes socially unacceptable (admit it, pumpkin carving for kicks is a little unacceptable once you're 30+), and that's when people settle down and have kids -- so that they can continue pumpkin carving to their heart's content without judgement, because after all it's "for the kids."
I'm growing up, yet currently still at an age when I can indulge my inner child. Today is my 23rd birthday and to celebrate over the weekend, I invited a few friends over to build a gingerbread village together. Yes, I have awesome friends who humor me instead of judge me.
My rustic woodland hut, chimney and all
Hyejoo, Irene, and Yeonjoo's Christmas tree house
Vivian and Shijie's joint mansion
Patrick's abstract architecture. The alcohol inspired the creativity.
Ming recreated The Burrow, aka the Weasleys' house from Harry Potter. He's quite pleased with his work.
My friends surprised me with cupcakes and presents, oh my.
I win, I have the best friends in the world.
I couldn't contain my excitement and had to start shooting with the new lens asap.
David sent me lilies and they're blooming beautifully. The camera lens captures them so well.
My friends are all sweethearts. Even the boys.
P.S. My present to myself was a Wusthof bread knife, sniped from Amazon during a lightning deal. It's so pretty that I'm afraid to open it.
